About

Anne Copeland, Senior Advocate

With more than 20 years of volunteer and professional experience working with seniors, children, and physically/developmentally challenged people in a variety of settings such as hospitals and school districts, Anne Copeland is experienced in knowing what these folks need and how to find or provide it. She is a strong fighter for the rights of seniors in everyday living situations.

As a senior herself, she has had to learn ways to continue to get the things she needed through years that were less than perfect economically and health-wise. Anne is known for her ability to "work the system" in a positive and sustainable way, and to use the knowledge she has gained from this experience to help others.

She has done grant writing for various organizations; and is a public speaker and teacher of quilt and ethnic textile-related courses, creative writing and consciousness raising workshops. She is a professional writer and artist in mixed media and fiber arts. Anne has been working in her nonprofit, Fiber Arts Connection, www.fiberartsconnection.blogspot.com since 2003, and during that time has curated many traveling exhibits and also has helped many physically challenged fiber artists with finding their way in their professional development. She has a degree in archeology and worked for a number of years assisting her former anthropologist husband, Spencer H. MacCallum with the development of some unknown Mexican potters to bring them to the International fame they have today.

Anne is an AQS certified quilt appraiser, a quilt historian, and a repair and restoration specialist. She has had many careers in her lifetime including Regulatory Compliance Specialist for a major pharmaceutical company, quality assurance consultant for manufacturing companies, technical writer, graphic artist, publisher's assistant, and editor for several newspapers and a small magazine.
